Summary: The Mt. Diablo Unified School District, the City of Pleasant Hill, the Pleasant Hill Recreation and Park District and the County of Contra Costa, through their respective legal departments, have worked together over the past three years to put together a complex land deal whereby the parties exchanged several pieces of property (in the case of MDUSD, surplus designated property adjoining Pleasant Hill Middle School), to build a new park and library in the City of Pleasant Hill - next to Pleasant Hill Middle School. The land deal involved multiple joint agreements, easements, land dedications, use agreements and CEQA certifications for all agencies involved. The deal also has a financial component pursuant to a Joint Powers Agreement (attached herewith), whereby MDUSD would receive 10% of the net proceeds from the sale of the old library property as part of the land-swap arrangement. As a result, MDUSD is entitled to $969,675.43 in net proceeds.

The brand new library and park is expected to have a grand opening in Spring 2022, and will serve our Pleasant Hill students, parents and community. MDUSD maintains a close working relationship with all stakeholders and is proud to have played an instrumental part in seeing this project come to fruition, for the benefit of our students and community.
Funding: NA
Fiscal Impact Expected net proceeds of $969,675.43 to MDUSD pursuant to JPA with City and County.
