Summary: Staff requests authorization to participate in a Contra Costa County consortium grant application to support homeless students, managed by the Contra Costa County Office of Education. The Education for Homeless Children and Youth Grant is designed to reduce barriers to educational success for homeless students. If funded, the grant will provide $175,000 annually for three years for support services, shared among the twelve school districts participating in the consortium application.
Funding: Funding is provided by the California Department of Education
Fiscal Impact Grant will generate $175,000 a year for three years, managed by the Contra Costa County Office of Education. There is no unrestricted general fund contribution requirement.
Recommendation: Approve authorization to participate in the Contra Costa County consortium grant application.
